I am incredibly excited to announce that my latest filmmaking workshop, Ghosts of Mandurah, has been selected as part of the Mandurah Arts Festival 2026.
This is a project that combines two things I absolutely love: filmmaking and telling stories that spark the imagination.
Designed for young people aged 12 to 17, Ghosts of Mandurah: Filmmaking After Dark is a hands on workshop where participants will work together to create their own found footage horror film using nothing more than their mobile phones, creativity, and the unique locations around Mandurah.
Over three hours, I will guide participants through the filmmaking process, from developing an idea and building suspense to filming, editing, and crafting a short horror film that is ready to screen.
One of the things I love most about filmmaking is showing people that great stories do not begin with expensive equipment. They begin with imagination. A familiar boardwalk can become the setting for a ghost story. A quiet laneway can become a place of mystery. An ordinary location can become unforgettable when you know how to tell the story.
Throughout the workshop, participants will learn practical filmmaking skills including cinematography, lighting, sound, editing, visual storytelling, and working collaboratively as a creative team.
By the end of the session, every group will have created a 60 to 90 second found footage horror film inspired by Mandurah's unique atmosphere, history, and urban legends.
Whether you dream of becoming a filmmaker, love creating content for social media, or simply enjoy telling stories, this workshop is designed to build confidence, creativity, and hands on production skills in a fun and supportive environment.
