Ghosts of Mandurah
Create eerie short films after dark, using mobile phones to turn Mandurah’s familiar places into found footage local horror stories
Workshop Description:
Step into the shadows with Ghosts of Mandurah: Filmmaking After Dark, a thrilling hands-on workshop for young people aged 12–17 at Mandurah Arts Festival 2026. Led by filmmaker Mark Regan, this three-hour creative experience invites participants to turn familiar Mandurah locations into the setting for their own short found-footage horror film.
Using their mobile phones, teens will explore cinematography, suspense, lighting, sound, editing and storytelling while working in teams to create a 60–90 second screen ready film. Drawing inspiration from local boardwalks, foreshore paths, heritage sites and urban legends, the workshop blends digital creativity with place-based imagination in a way that feels fresh, fun and unmistakably Mandurah.
Ideal for aspiring filmmakers, content creators and curious storytellers, this distinctive session develops confidence, teamwork and media skills, ending with a group screening of each hauntingly imaginative film.
This workshop is part of the Mandurah Arts Festival 2026.
