Lola - 28 years old, underweight, Lola means strong willed, dishevelled, obsessed, put together like the nutty professor, determined, intelligent, resilient, haunted, isolated, reflective, innovative, passionate, single focused, lonely.

Young Lola - 8 years old, loves her time with Dad, kind, strong willed, bright, curious, imaginative, bright-eyed, eager to please, trusting, yearning for connection.

Mum - protective, educated, mid 50’s, firm, cares for her daughter

Young Mum - mid 30s, protective, strong-willed, tired but loving, fiercely loyal, frustrated. The kind of mother who quietly clears away bottles, smooths over the chaos, and gently shields her daughter without poisoning her against her father—because deep down, she remembers the man he once was.

Mum - mid-50s (main timeline); hardened by grief, still loving but emotionally guarded, practical, disillusioned, saddened by history repeating itself, protective to a fault. She doesn’t give up—but she doesn’t know how to save her either.

Father - mid 30s, alcoholic, liar, does try to do best with daughter, addict, obsessed, not nice with his wife, charismatic, unreliable, obsessive, emotionally volatile, manipulative (especially with his wife), warm but inconsistent with his daughter.

Becky - late 20’s, fit, looking for love, emotionally intelligent, grounded, and quietly strong. Someone who sees through the chaos to the heart underneath.

Professor - mid 50’s, sophisticated, educated, esteemed, professor, scientist by trade, articulate, analytical, deeply rational, with little patience for passion-driven chaos. He’s the kind of man who dresses sharply, speaks precisely, and weighs every sentence. His words can wound even when they're delivered with a smile. He doesn’t scream—he dismisses.
